My latest needlefelted wall hanging; The Birds of Fern Ridge Wetlands. It looks like a perfect day for a peaceful canoe ride through the wetlands with the water fowl for company. Here in the southern Willamette Valley, Fern Ridge Reservoir is such a large body of water that it attracts numerous species of birds to stop and spend some time on their migratory travels. Geese, ducks, swans, great blue herons and red wing blackbirds are just a few of the local inhabitants you might see out and about on the water. It’s a happening place.
With summer’s arrival, I was finding myself thinking a lot about all the bodies of water I’m excited to visit, so I made this repeat of a wall hanging I did for the Fern Ridge Wings and Wine festival a few years back. I’m thinking my next outdoor adventure will have to include a reservoir or lake.
