To my utter amazement this past week, one of our hens layed this! Now, I’ve seen plenty of double-yolkers in my day, but this one was downright HUGE.
Note how much larger it is than this other egg, and my son’s hand!
And it cooked up very nicely too. Nothing like a fried egg to start the day out right.

I had a hen who consistently laid double-yolkers. You could see the wrinkles/ridges in the shell where the two eggs had 'mooshed' together. We'd joke that her assembly line just didn't run smoothly. Sadly, we lost her in the stray dog incident. Haven't had a double in my current group of ladies, but one of 'em lays BIG eggs.

There's just something special about two yolks for the price of one. I'd love to have a hen who layed those every time.
And Heidi, that's good news that you got an appointment with an O.T. I have a feeling you are going to get some good help today for your kiddo!

Since we love runny yolks, double yolkers are always a source of great excitment! My chicks are coming in May and we can't wait. I sold my chickens last June and we've been missing them ever since!
