With the holidays fast approaching, I have been busily stitching, felting, gluing and beading in my craft room. Colorful wool is piled around in baskets, little scraps of this and that are becoming beautiful creations, and the midnight oil is certainly being burned.
When we bought this old farmhouse, one of the selling points for me was an extra downstairs room with lots of built-in cabinets and drawers. With all the bins and baskets of craft supplies I had tucked all over our home at that point, it seemed like a craft room was long overdue. This past winter, I got it freshly painted and organized, and started my own home crafts business called Mountain Hearth Handcrafts. I opened an online store on Etsy, and began vending at festivals and markets with a wooden market booth structure I borrowed from a friend. There are ebbs and flows, and finding time to set aside for crafting isn’t always easy with all the homestead chores that need doing every day, but I am finding that making regular time for the creative process and getting my art out there in the world is a great source of joy in life.
With the holidays around the corner, I thought I’d share a link to my Etsy site: http://www.mountainhearth.etsy.com/.
I have the shop brimming full with all kinds of needlefelted wool wall hangings, magical little faeries and gnomes, mushroom sprites, gemstone necklaces with forest animal pendants, and notecard sets of my photography prints. Even if your holiday shopping is complete, stop by and have a look around for some creative inspiration.
You can always find a link to the Etsy shop in the left hand side bar of this blog, and for updates on my crafting endeavors, I also have a crafting blog called Mountain Hearth Handcrafts at: http://www.mountainhearthhandcrafts.blogspot.com/
