Faced with the daunting task of weeding our vegetable garden and field, we decided to call in the chickens for support! My husband built a mini chicken tractor, just the right size for a bantam or two, that fits in between the garden rows. They get a meal of some nice tender green grass and weeds, and we get weed removal. It’s good for everyone!.
We put one chicken out there at a time for a couple hours, and let them do what chickens do. Here is Lucy, our little white-crested black polish, enjoying a nice meal of tender weedy morsels.
It’s easy to just keep picking it up and moving down along the rows between the raised garden mounds.
We love our chickens!

Seriously, that is disturbingly clever. But are you paying the chickens a living wage?

Awesome! What a GREAT idea!

These chickens wages are paid in abundant organic chicken feed, bugs, weeds, fresh kitchen scraps daily, and their own chicken pasture of lush green grass to roam around all day. It's a pretty good chicken lifestyle. Sometimes, I must admit, I'm a little envious of the chickens.

Good gravy, look at that garden! When do you have the time? Love the chicken tractor idea. I will have to implement that one next year.
