“Shucks,” said the bunny, “I might just as well stay where I am and be your little bunny.”
And so he did.
“Have a carrot,” said the mother bunny.

I
so enjoyed needlefelting a wall hanging based on Margaret Wise Brown’s
“Runaway Bunny” last year, that I decided to make another one. I’ve been
seeing little wild bunnies hopping away at the edge of the woods when
we’re out on evening walks, and was reminded of the story. This wall
hanging depicts my favorite scene at the end of the book of the mother
and child in their cozy burrow. After talking about all the far-flung
places he is going to run away to all day, his mother just tells him
she will follow him anywhere because he is her little bunny, and offers
him a carrot for supper. It’s a tale of motherly love.

i used to love this book when i was little! it's such a beautiful story, i always used to think about the two rabbits as me and my mother.
what technique did you use when making this? i'm a real beginner when it comes to felting, i only know how to make like 3d figures and not a flat one like this! it's really pretty, i love the colours you've used.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! To needlefelt flat scenes you lay bits of colored wool over a flat felted base and go over it with felting needles the same as you would a 3-D figure. You can use the mulit-needle tool for bigger sections and single needles for the details. It's a lot of fun!
