I just had to show off my fun thrift store find of the month. I remember having a lot of fun with our Advent calendar when I was growing up, and always looked forward to every morning when my brother and I would take turns putting up one of the little Velcro packages, candy canes, elves, etc. on the calendar day getting us closer to Christmas. I did Advent wreaths and the little chocolate filled calendars with the windows for my kids a few times, but hadn’t quite found just the right one yet. When I spied this vintage find on the holiday linen rack at the thrift store last week, I was delighted by the little gnomes, and hoped my kids weren’t too old to enjoy the tradition.
As is so often the case, I had nothing to worry about. They were excited as soon as they saw it hanging on the inside of our front door. My son has been double checking what day it is each morning and pinning the little gnome on the new day closer to Christmas.
I’m having fun watching the little gnomes progress from the top of their stairway by the cozy farmhouse…
To the bottom, where it looks like they are off on their way for some adventurous journey with a knapsack and lantern. Perhaps delivering presents? You never know what gnomes might be up to.
