May Faire at our Waldorf school is a tradition I look forward to every year to ring in the flowering of the season. The Maypole dance, the flower crowns, the live music, the games booths, the plant sale and the bakery booth have all become interwoven in my experience of May. It can be a big undertaking for the school community and parent volunteers to put on, but it always comes together beautifully and is well worth the effort.
Our class booths this year were the Queen’s Boudoir, and Garland Making. All the 7th grade girls had a grand time fixing hair and chatting away.
I spent some time volunteering in the garland making booth with my son, helping people young and old make flower crowns to ring in the month of May. I loved seeing what they came up with!
By the end of the day, everyone was looking extra fancy.
I have enjoyed coordinating the artisan vendors the last few years, and was so happy to have my friends Jeff, Taryn and Bracken there with their Mystic Orb booth.
As our school community gathers around the Maypole another year, I am reminded how lucky we are to be a part of it. My children are almost finished with their time at the school, but we will have many years of memories to take away with us and the certainty that we can always come back for a May Faire visit.
